Established in 1874 by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Medical Center is a nonprofit community teaching hospital in downtown Baltimore. In 2015, Mercy provided over $31 million in charitable care and is committed to continuing its ministry to the underserved and vulnerable of the Baltimore community. Mercy's mission states, “Like the Sisters of Mercy before us, we witness God’s healing love for all people by providing excellent clinical and residential services within a community of compassionate care” and incorporates these values: Dignity, Hospitality, Justice, Excellence and Stewardship.
