The 7th Annual Supermarket Street Sweep

The Supermarket Street Sweep is an annual bike race that benefits the San Francisco Food Bank! For the past five years, hundreds of participants have zipped around the city to local supermarkets and brought back thousands of pounds of food to donate to this wonderful charity. The food bank needs support now more than ever as funding cuts have left the food bank struggling to keep up with increasing demand. Read about it here.
DOLLARS FOR DINNERS: Raise as much money as you can. For every $1 you raise 4 meals can be provided to those in need. Fundraise from now until December 3, 2012.

2006: 80 racers - 1,172 lbs of food
2007: 110 racers - 1,595 lbs.
2008: 150 racers - 5,266 lbs.
2009: 198 racers - 7,507 lbs.
2010: 171 racers - 6,920 lbs. + $4,877
2011: 201 racers - 7,990 lbs. + $9,552

WHERE: Cupid Span's (Bow & Arrow) at Folsom and Embarcadero.

CARGO RACE: Bring back the heaviest load of food from the designated grocery stores.

SPEED RACE: Buy specific food items from the designated grocery stores and get to the finish as soon as possible.
