Family Promise of Monmouth County is proud to present our 8th annual Cardboard Box City fundraising event on Friday, Sept 15th, 2017. Event participants will spend the night in boxes at Monmouth Church of Christ in Tinton Falls to raise money and awareness for Family Promise, a support agency in Monmouth County that keeps homeless families together while providing them with services to assist them back into homes of their own.
Family Promise is a communitywide program that provides transitional shelter and comprehensive assistance for low-income families in Monmouth County in a manner that offers hope, preserves dignity and promotes self-sufficiency.
Why support Family Promise of Monmouth County?
- Because there are more than 200 children in Monmouth county who are homeless, and Family Promise is the only emergency shelter that takes families. Each year, we provide roughly 10,220 meals and 5,110 bed-nights for families in need. Referral calls from families seeking temporary housing continue to increase. Unfortunately, our capacity falls far short of the demand.
- Because our program works. At the end of our 90 day program, approximately 80% of our families graduate into permanent or transitional housing. This is thanks to intensive case management that helps them overcome the issues that led to homelessness.
- Because the stability we provide helps our children stay on grade level. We keep them in their regular school, offering continuity during a disrupted time. Not one child has been held back.
