On October 3rd, 2013, nearly 250 impoverished Cambodian men, women and children will gather for a walk for hunger in Svay Chek District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia. Walkers will include 36 vulnerable young girls whose families have been receiving BGR-supported food relief since 2009, offsetting the opportunity cost of the girls' continued schooling and providing a critical lifeline to some of the most impoverished families on the planet.
Omnipresent hunger is something all-too-familiar in these communities, and these beneficiaries are honored to partake in this global act of compassion. These villagers hope to bring awareness to this gap in basic human rights and stand in solidarity with Buddhist Global Relief, which continues to invest in nourishing Cambodia's children body, mind and spirit.
