Sacramento Walk

Thursday, October 24, 2013

Join about 50 Buddhist Monks and Nuns, including all denominations, in this 1.4-mile Walk to Feed the Hungry on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Sacramento, California.

It is not only a great way to support BGR in its compassionate efforts to help feed those who are suffering from chronic hunger, but also a positive way to spread compassion to our local community and California State Capital by harmoniously gathering together. Mindful walking, generosity, listening to Dhamma talks, and making spiritual friends are great ways to heal, brighten, and develop the mind as taught by the Buddha. Everyone is invited to attend this uplifting event.

Check-in for our Walk will start at 8:15 a.m. at 15th St. and Capital Ave. near the International World Peace Rose Garden. Please arrive early so we can begin walking promptly at 9 a.m.  From there we will walk around the perimeter of the park. When we return to our starting point, we will walk up Capital Ave towards the Capital building and settle near the Trout pond to enjoy our lunch and inspiring talks.

BGR will give part of the walk proceeds to a local charitable organization with a mission similar to BGR's (TBA).

People can do the entire walk, or just part of it as they wish.

Please bring a water bottle, sun-hat, and whatever you need for your walk. If you are not part of the Western Buddhist Monastic Gathering group, please bring your own packed lunch and enjoy it together with the monks and nuns.
