Steps Against Stigma

Saturday, September 30, 2017

NAMI Northern Kentucky and the Northern Kentucky Crisis Intervention Team are partnering to host the 7th annual Steps Against Stigma Fundraiser Walk.

Mental illness and the care of those living with mental illness are rapidly growing issues within our nation.

NAMI Northern Kentucky is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. NAMI Northern Kentucky provides FREE education, suport and advocacy for all individuals affected by mental illness. The Northern Kentucky Crisis Intervention Team is a collaboration of professionals who work together to train law enforcement officers in responding to behavioral and mental health related incidents.

The Steps Against Stigma walk is a way for members of both organizations and the larger community to actively take steps together towards promoting mental health education, bring awareness to the connection between mental health and drug abuse, and decreasing the social stigma associated with mental illness.

This year's walk will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park in Covington, Kentucky. The event will include walking along the park's designated trail, a picnic lunch and a gift basket raffle. This event is kid and dog friendly.

Walk proceeds will support programs and services provided by NAMI Northern Kentucky and the Northern Kentucky Crisis Intervention Team.
