2013 United Way Alternative Spring Break

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Since 2006, United Way has helped hundreds of young adults and student volunteers from across the United States spend their spring break making a meaningful impact in communities across the country. This March, over 200 students will travel to New Jersey to participate in United Way Alternative Spring Break 2013

If you want to spend your spring break helping improve education opportunities for children in Newark and assisting with Hurricane Sandy rebuilding efforts at the Jersey Shore, click “Register” above!

Home base for Alternative Spring Break will be at the Boys & Girls Club of Newark. Participants will act as tutors and mentors for local children who need it the most, and provide some building maintenance support to this outdated facility. Each day, groups of students will be deployed to work on projects at the Jersey Shore. Appropriate projects are being identified now in preparation for this month-long service project.

There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee to hold your spot in our Alternative Spring Break program. In addition, you will be required to secure $300 in donations** which covers the following:

• Transportation to and from the airport, train or bus station
• All on-the-ground transportation throughout the service week
• Lodging (At the Boys & Girls Club of Newark)
• Food

Don't Miss
• A week of fun and service with other passionate and civic minded young leaders
• Making friendships that last a lifetime
• Connecting to a child in need
• Rebuilding lives after Hurricane Sandy

Commit your spring break to volunteer with United Way in Newark.
It promises to be one of the best experiences of your college years.
