Nicole's Run/ Walk is a fundraiser for Caring Unlimited, York County's Domestic Violence Resource Center. Nicole's Run started in memory and honor of Nicole Oliver, a young mother of two from Wells, Maine, who was killed by her husband in July of 2007, and is a tribute to all victims and survivors of domestic violence.
All money raised through Nicole's Run/ Walk and Kids' Fun Run supports the programs and services offered by Caring Unlimited so that our friends and neighbors experiencing domestic abuse are able to access critical support and safety planning services any time, any day, confidential and free of charge.
All money raised through Nicole's Run benefits Caring Unlimted's programs and services. By collecting pledges and donations from friends, family members and co-workers, you can help ensure victims of domestic violence are able to access free, confidential safety planning services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
All donations made online or collected and turned in on race day will make you eligible to win our highest fundraiser prize!
On July 9th, 2007, Nicole, a 24-year old mother of two young boys, was shot to death by her husband who then took his own life. Nicole had a passion and love for life, with a contagious smile and a vibrant personality. She loved her sons more than anything, and taking them for walks along the beaches in Kennebunk was one of her favorite activities.
After seven years married to an abuser, Nicole found the strength and courage to leave and start a new life. She was attending college at YCCC and working towards her dream of becomming an RN. She was making friends and was truly happy. Lured by the promise of money for a new apartment, she returned to her old house where her husband took her life.
Nicole's Run was founded by Nicole's friends and family so that anyone experiencing domestic violence can access critical support and services to live safely free from abuse.
