2015 "Keep Winter Cold" Polar Bear Plunge sponsored by CCAN
Join the 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge!
The "Keep Winter Cold" Polar Bear Plunge is CCAN's biggest fundraising event, powering victories to move our region off of fossil fuels and to clean energy. Each year, activists, friends and families show their commitment to fighting climate change by jumping in the icy Potomac River.
This year, as the plunge turns ten, we're aiming to raise $100,000 to support CCAN's work and make this our biggest plunge yet!
Why should I help?
Human-made greenhouse gases are trapping more heat in the atmosphere, accelerating the increase in global average temperatures. Climate change is impacting our friends, family, neighbors and, yes, the polar bears. By taking the plunge, you'll raise awareness and help fund solutions across MD, VA and DC.
We ask plungers to set a goal of raising $350 or more. Why 350? 350ppm is the level of carbon scientists say we must return to in order to keep winter cold. But don't stop at $350, we'll have special prizes for top fundraisers and more!
To help you get started, we've put together a toolkit with sample emails and other fundraising tips. See the toolkit here.
You can mail us a check. Help us avoid credit card fees by mailing any donations above $250. Put the full name of the plunger you are sponsoring in the memo line:
