Welcome to the South Bend Public Education Foundation.

The South Bend Education Foundation grew from a strategic planning group of community visionary citizens in 1995. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that is independent of, yet a partner with, the South Bend Community School Corporation.

To date, we have funded 2.2 M for reading training for 1,138 teachers and the ISTEP reading scores are reflecting the impact that the community has helped to create!  In addition, the Foundation has funded 462 teacher and principal grants totaing over $397,772. The current strategic plan goals are to endow the teacher grants to fund innovation for the future and to fund reading support for the schools.

Currently, we are raising funds to train 3rd/4th and 7th/8th grade teachers, 250 Bus Drivers and 125 Food Service staff in Character Education. With your help programs like these will continue to make a significant impact on the children of South Bend Schools.

The Foundation is governed by a 29 member board of directors that is a diverse group of community and business leaders. They continue the founding directors' unwavering passion and commitment to giving children every opportunity to learn which still guides what we do today.

Thank you for supporting the education of our next leaders.
