Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page!
My name is Andrea Holber. On May 24th, 2014, I became a Bat Mitzvah. For my Mitzvah Project, I selected Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) and its LEGACY Program, which helps the families of Israel's fallen soldiers. I am raising money to bring Israeli children who lost a parent or sibling defending Israel to America for a summer camp experience.
These children had to grow up very quickly through a devastating loss. But, in this project, I am trying to bring back their childhood. Last year, the FIDF brought 120 B’nai-Mitzvah-aged bereaved kids to America for summer camp. I also go to camp and know how much it means to me - it is my home away from home.
This year Yom Hazikaron- the Day of Remembrance for Israel's fallen soldiers - falls on my Birthday. This gives me an additional responsibility to fulfill this role. Also, my Torah portion is Bamidbar in which G-d commands a census to be taken of the Israelites who are able to fight in battle. Today, we count on the IDF to defend Israel. I hope the children of these fallen soldiers can count on us to bring some joy and laughter back into their lives.
I hope to raise enough money for at least one Israeli child to come. l am selling FIDF bracelets, pins and other FIDF merchandise. I am having bake sales, sending emails and distributing flyers with packets of s’mores attached to remind everyone about the fun of summer camp and how I am trying to bring “s’more” fun into the lives of my Israeli friends.
Please show your solidarity and help bereaved Israeli kids come to camp this summer during their Bar or Bat Mitzvah year.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer & thanking you for being a part of this very worthwhile and meaningful CAMPaign!
