2014 POLICE UNITY TOUR
"WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED"
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Every year hundreds of law enforcement officers die in the line of duty. Nothing can ever replace them to their family and friends. The Police Unity Tour Inc. was formed in 1997 by a group of law enforcement officers who rode their bicycles from Florham Park, N.J., to the Memorial in Washington, D.C. Every year since 1997, law enforcement officers nationwide and some of the surviving family members, have ridden hundreds of miles with the purpose of raising awareness of those law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty
I am the father in law of Police Officer Eric Freeman, who was killed in the line of duty on December, 15th 2007 in Huntsville Alabama. Since then I have had the challenging but awesome responsibility of raising his son and daughter. My grandson and I started thinking about riding in the 2014 Police Unity Tour in 2010 when we attended Police Week in Washington DC. I promised him that we would ride, if possible when he turned 18 which is the minimum age for someone to participate.
The 2014 Police Unity Tour is From May 10 to May 12, tour riders cycle over 250 miles from Portsmouth, Va. To the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial in Washington DC in honor of those "HEROES" who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to ensure their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The secondary purpose of the ride is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. This Memorial and the future building of the Museum are a vital part of American History and we want to do our part to preserve it and the memory of the Law Enforcement Officers whose names are displayed there.
Part of being a rider means I pledged to raise $2,000 for the Unity Tour and the National Police Memorial Fund in D.C. I would greatly appreciate any amount you can donate in supporting my efforts.
Please sponsor me in the upcoming 2014 Police Unity Tour!
I would love to ride and with your help I will be able to fulfill a commitment that I made to my grandson as well as show my esteem for those officers who gave their lives protecting all of us.
On behalf of the entire law enforcement community, I would like to thank you for your continued support and consideration of this sponsorship.
