As I sit here to do my first ever walk for such a wonderful cause, I am reminded that I am now Sara'a voice. No family, no family, and no person should ever have to go through domestic violence. We lost one of our own to it, and I don't think we will ever be the same.
For some of you that may not know, Sara was murdered by her husband December 2012, that awful day and the horrific call that came in to my phone is my every day nightmare. Her husband shot and killed her. Sara has suspected abuse of their two year old daughter, she brought her to the hospital, and that is where she left Kaitlyn in safe hands. We may never know why she went home, maybe she had no where else to go, perhaps she didn't know that her own loving husband would do something so terrible.
Every day we thank God for the wonderful Mother Sara was, she gave her life so that her daughter lived. "Where their is love, their is life" has become a favorite quote of mine. I miss her everyday, when I look at her little girl and the faces she makes, I see her momma shining through everyday.
