My story: My love for running started back in high school (Tracy High) when I was forced to run during wreslting camp in San Diego during my summer break. So, I decided to join the cross-country team in the fall to be in shape for wrestling seaon in the winter. At that point, I was running to lose or maintain my weight.
Fast foward almost 20 years, I ran my first marathon back in SF of July 2011 after remembering a goal I had set for myself back in high school. So, when I went to sign up the next year for the same race, they had added an ultra-marathon option named "Worth the Hurt" where you had to sign up for one of the charaties. The only one I could personally get behind was Ashley's "MS Run the US" because of my Uncle Nick, who lives with MS.
These days, I still run to maintain my weight but I also run to stay in shape and manage stress levels for my job as a correctional officer at CHCF-Stockton (recently transferring from San Quentin). Not only do I run for myself but I run for my family, friends, and coworkers (to respond to alarms). Now I am running, again, for the MS Run the US organization.
