FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered
Thank you for taking a moment to visit my page!
FORCE is near and dear to my heart. I found FORCE when my family learned we carried the BRCA2 gene mutation after my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37. As a young mother who did NOT have breast cancer, I had many questions and concerns. FORCE put me in touch with resources that helped me understand my many options. I met other Previvors who had traveled the road ahead of me and when I made the choice to have a preventative double mastectomy and hysterectomy, I did it with confidence.
I pay that gift forward now as a FORCE Outreach Coordinator in Orlando. I have had the honor of meeting many families affected by hereditary breast or ovarian cancer. The comminuty FORCE supports has grown as more than 750,000 men and women carry a BRCA gene mutation, 90% of who are unaware of their risk. 1 in 40 Ashkenazi Jewish men and women carry a BRCA mutation; Almost 10% of women with breast cancer carry a hereditary mutation; 14% of women with ovarian cancer carry a mutation; PEOPLE WITH AN INHERITED PREDISPOSITION FACE ALIFETIME RISK AS HIGH AS 90% OF DEVELOPING CANCER.
FORCE's Mission: To provide resources, information and support; to raise awareness; to represent the concerns and interests of high-risk community and their loved ones; to promote research and to reduce disparities among underserved populations.
If each of you donates just $10, the gift will be greater than you could realize.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
