Segment: No. 2 - 196.3 miles - Barstow, CA to Las Vegas, NV! April 16-23, 2016. Segment details here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/395083124/ . Please contact me if you would like to join me on the road, or if you're interested in joining us in Las Vegas after I finish!
I was runner in high school, joining the track team as a sophomore in high school and later the cross country team. After graduating, I disavowed running, only to get back into it about ten years ago. Since then, it has been a rollercoaster ride with several lengthy runs of training and adventure followed by periods of inactivity. I have run 50Ks, more than 50 miles in a 12 hour race, marathons in Las Vegas and the High Sierras, and a number of half marathons.
As some of you know, my sister has been living with Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS) since 2011. She is receiving good treatment and is managing, but it can be debilitating at times.
Watching family and friends live with this disease has pushed me to try and do something to help identify causes, better treatment, and ultimately a cure. I was also inspired by the efforts of MS Run the US' founder, Ashley Schneider, who I followed when she ran across the country in 2010. I am honored to now join the 2016 relay across the United States and raise money for MS!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
