Hi, my name is Amy Lopez. My family and I are trying to raise $17,000 to provide a service dog for our 6 year old son Isaias. Isaias joined our family when he was 9 months old. He was born not breathing and addicted to many drugs. He stayed in the hospital for a week and was automatically put on anti-seizure medication for what doctors thought were withdrawal seizures. He went into three medical foster homes before joining our forever family. Isaias had 3 grand mal seizures during that time and all were febrile.

At 16 months old Isaias began presenting with multiple seizure types and we spent almost two weeks in the hospital while several tests were run. Isaias was later diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a catastrophic form of epilepsy. He has been on several different anti-epileptic drugs, the ketogenic diet and medical cannabis.

Isaias has daily petite mal seizures and averages 1-2 grand mals a month. He is unable to be left alone and needs constant medical care. A service dog for Isaias would provide him with some normalcy. The dog would be able to alert us to a seizure, provide comfort and safety during a seizure and would give the whole family an extra set of eyes. The dog will also have the ability to be tethered to Isaias in public and social situations and will be able to track him if he were to wonder off. Having a service dog for my son will be a great support system in his emergency care team and would give our whole family some much needed peace of mind.
