Trekking the Alps for Dark-Sky

This hike is to promote science programs for kids. Their curiosity is the fuel of the future.

Head over to my Facebook page so you can add or subscribe for updates!

I am voyaging from Lake Geneva (Thonon-les-Bains) to the Mediterranean Sea (Menton) via the GR-5 trail on foot, to raise money for the urban outreach program Save Our Stars (SOS) organized by the International Dark-Sky Association. This project's aim is to setup evening programs for kids living in urban areas so they can develop a better understanding of astronomy, light pollution, and the importance of maintaining a clear night sky. Having grown up in a heavily lit suburb, I wasn't always able to observe a clear night sky. I would like to make something as basic as gazing at the stars, return to its rightful place as the wonder of night.

Along the way, I'll be taking photos of the night sky from varying points to display the beauty, or perhaps, the lack thereof due to light pollution. I will be posting updates of my progress periodically as well, so you can track my progress. The hike should take approximately 4 weeks! I hope all of you who share a passion for the night sky will help the youth discover one of their own.
All of the proceeds will be going towards the Save Our Stars (SOS) project. Here's the link, check it out:

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Clear skies,
Anthony Richardson
