We now have raised enough money to send to 4 Paws For Ability but could still use your help, please read the red text to find out how before submitting a donation here.

We reached our 4 Paws goal on December 22, 2010!

It will cost my family $5,000 for our travel and training to get my service dog, this is in addition to the money raised here for 4 Paws.  Deeds now has a custodial account for this purpose.

To contribute to my travel expenses to get my service dog in Ohio for 2 weeks of training, and medical expenses, you can use the Dog 4 Deeds button on MY BLOG and it will take you to Paypal to donate for my custodial account!

I'm JD but my family calls me Deeds.  I am about to turn three years old in January.  I have Autism, Periventricular Leukomalacia and mild Cerebral Palsy.

My new autism assistance dog will help with so many aspects of my life.  My new doggie will be trained in search and rescue.  My mom calls me Houdini because I love to escape from them and wonder off.  I don't understand many things that may be dangerous to me and I will not often respond when my name is called.  I will be tethered to my new dog in public, giving me the ability to walk without having to be strapped in a stroller, shopping cart or held by my mom and dad.  When I fidgit and do repetitive motions my dog will nudge me to teach me to stop. Sometimes I also have seizures.  My new doggy will be able to protect me and help my mom and dad know if I am going to have a seizure.  He will be my buddy and can also help me stay calm at doctors appointments and school.  This dog will change my life!

You can go to our blog www.dog4deeds.wordpress.com to learn more about Deeds and his story.  More information about Service Dogs and the specific things that they could provide for JD can be found at the 4 Paws For Ability website.  They are an excellent program, and the only agency that will place a dog with someone JD's age.  Checks can also be sent direct to 4 Paws with a donation, writing "In Honor of JD Mauss" in the memo field.  All donations made to 4 Paws are tax deductible.
