Hi! My name is Abigail Ward and in just a few short months, I will become a Bat Mitzvah. While I am busy preparing for this special day, I am also looking forward to going to Israel this summer as part of my celebration.
Tzedakah has always been a very important part of my family and my life. I hope you will join with me in supporting my mitzvah project with an amazing organization, Beit Issie Shapiro. Beit Issie Shapiro is Israel's leading organization furthering the rights, opportunities and services for people with disabilities, impacting over 30,000 people every year.
Many of you know that I love my iPad. I probably use it a little too much. I also love swimming. It is my favorite activity. I have been swimming since I was just a baby.
How great is it that I can take my two passions and help to raise money for the use of ipads in the Hydrotherapy Pool at Beit Issie Shapiro.
Therapists are using waterproof iPads to help increase communication with a child who does not speak or is challenged in expressing themselves. Giving them this important tool in the water makes them engaged in their therapy and they have fun being an active participant.
So here is what I am going to do. This spring, right before I leave for Israel, I am going to swim 100 laps. Yes, that is what I said – 100 Laps! Think I can do it? Well then sponsor me and help me raise $1,800 for one child to receive iPad hydrotherapy for one year. Who knows, maybe we will help more than one child.
Beit Issie Shapiro is making miracles happen every day and together, we can help them.
Got to get back to training. See you in the pool!
