2010 Autism Walk-a-thon

Callie Charlton's Fundraising Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Our team is in honor of Qunitin My wonderful 7 year old son who has autism.  All support for our team supports people with autism all over Oregon.  While many people have had a chance to meet Quintin you all may not know how far he has come.  As a baby was happy and loving as all babies are but as he got older he did not show language.  At age of 3 he was not communicating.  As a parent one of the hardest things admite is that my son was never able to say "i love you."  He also had developed some atypical behavior.  One of the hardest and longest days of my life was spent at OHSU when I was told that Quintin had PDD-NOS, a form of Autism.  I could not and still do not believe that my perfect son is nothing but perfect.

Why is this important, if anyone has gone to a public place me and my children you know that People stare, make rude  comments and even request we leave or insult us because of some typical autistic behavior.  Many times little things like going to the store have to be planned out in advance to prepare for our outing.  Not everyone understand autism and not everyone has to but it is important to go to and find places that are open and friendly to peopple with autism.  As an update, Quintin can tell me he loves me and look me in the eye, this one act has taken years and still means more to me than any thing else in the world.  Please support Team Quintin.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
