Camp About Face is a weekly summer camp, sponsored by the Cleft and Craniofacial Team at Riley Hospital for Children, held at Bradford Woods (www.bradwoods.org) in Martinsville, Indiana for youth ages 8-18 with craniofacial anomalies.
The goal of Camp About Face is to provide a safe environment for children with facial birth defects to experience socialization and improve self-esteem. This is achieved by providing the campers an opportunity to meet, interact, and make friends with other children with facial birth defects, and through Bradford Woods’ “programming with a purpose” philosophy which allows campers to increase self-confidence by mastering both physical and mental challenges.
The cost to provide the six-day camp session is approximately $50,000 per year. Because of the many expenses associated with having a child with special medical needs, the charge per family is capped at a minimal fee. Funding for Camp About Face comes from camper fees and donations from civic organizations, from two small family foundations, and from personal donations. These funds cover the expenses charged by Bradford Woods associated with staffing and facilitating the one-week Camp About Face session.
Your donation will directly improve the lives of children born with facial birth defects. This is a life-changing experience, and your gift helps ensure that no child is turned away from the chance to benefit from it. Your generosity will make a significant difference in creating a brighter future for these children.
