Once a year, I ask friends and family to consider sponsoring the lifesaving work that the Oshkosh Area Humane Society provides for animals in need every day. I recognize that people in my circle believe strongly in many causes - here is what makes OAHS so special and worthy of your support.
About 2,500 animal lives are supported each year through the work of our organization. Walk for the Animals raises needed funds to support their medical needs. Every single animal that we serve receives some type of medical attention, whether it be needed vaccinations, spay/neuter, treatment for a chronic condition or a necessary emergency procedure to save their life.
Would you consider donating to help animals like Sweetie? Sweetie was a free-roaming cat who was cared for by a woman just south of Oshkosh in Town of Black Wolf. She was altered and ear-tipped to let others know she was spayed and someone was looking out for her, a procedure at OAHS we fully support. One day her guardian was out on her deck and saw Sweetie slowly walking up onto the deck to join her and noticed something was terribly wrong. Sweetie had a a large open wound on her leg and could not put any weight on it. Her caretaker could not afford treatment and had nobody to turn to for the help Sweetie needed to save her life. Sweetie came to OAHS, was rushed to a vet and it was determined via x-ray that her injuries were consistent with that of a gun shot wound. Because she was shot in the elbow and her bones were shattered, her leg could not be fixed and the decision was made to amputate. Sweetie is now recovering in a foster home and just had her sutures removed from her surgery. She is pain free and really getting used to the luxury of life as an indoor cat! She loves her foster mom and is enjoying daily wet food treats and chin rubs while she waits to be adopted into a forever home.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
