Dear Camp Taylor friends,
My name is Catalina Lynberg. I am 16 years old and I am now a sophomore at Mountain View High School. I was born with a VSD, which is a hole in between the ventricles in my heart, and I also had total coartation of the aorta. It was as bad as it sounds.
I have been attending Camp Taylor with my older sister for the past seven years. Camp Taylor is a wonderful free summer camp for kids with heart disease and their siblings. Camp Taylor is important to me because it has changed my life. At Camp, I have learned about my heart defect during heart education classes, and I’ve made many new friends that have similar problems than what I have. Camp Taylor is like a big family. I remember how the first year of camp I did the ropes course but couldn’t get to the top of the rockwall. It was a big struggle for me because I hadn’t done it before in my life and I did not think I was strong enough to do it. Every year I have climbed higher and higher with the support and encouragement of my Camp Taylor family. This year I almost got to the top and I am determined to reach the top of the wall next year. Camp Taylor has given me the confidence to know that I can do it.
Every year in February, Camp Taylor has this auction to help the camp raise money so more kids can come to camp every year....and I want all kids with heart disease to have an experience like mine. Camp Taylor has made a difference in my life because now I am not shy like I was the first year because of the confidence I have been given. Camp Taylor is a second home to me because I leave my home but then I come to camp and I have my Camp Taylor family; it is a home away from home. Me, my family, and my Camp Taylor family would greatly appreciate any donation you can make. Thanks for all of your support.
