When you give the gift of fun, you can change a life forever. For eight weeks each spring and fall, the Charleston Miracle League gives special needs kids and adults the chance to be just that – SPECIAL. (CLICK ON VIDEO OVER THERE ----->!)
Your support of our Bridging The Gap Through baseball in conjunction with the Cooper River Bridge Run (www.BridgeRun.com) helps us make memories by providing a life-changing experience for children and adults with mental and physical challenges through a community supported baseball league.
This year, we have decided to increase our commitment to making a broader and deeper impact within our community. The Charleston Miracle League has entered a partnership with the PlayToday! Foundation (www.PlayTodayFoundation.org). We are now officially “PlayToday! Pledged” which means we will strive to offer activities in addition to baseball for our players and their families.
We will also fundraise to build a TherapyPlay! Module adjacent to our specially designed rubberized-surfaced field. This TherapyPlay! Module will allow both children and adults to receive all types of therapies (physical, occupational, psychological) in a beautiful outdoor setting. My own son Nashton, who is autistic, would be able to visit and benefit from this TherapyPlay! Module as well as countless others – even those kids without disabilities. (SEE PICTURE OVER THERE -------->!)
As many of you know, I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, aka cancer of the lymph nodes. I have started chemotherapy treatment so I do not expect to be able to run the bridge as I have in previous years. Therefore, I’m requesting not only your financial support, but also participation in “Walk With Channing” if possible. After an invigorating walk across the beautiful Cooper River Bridge, what fun it would be to have several dozen of us cross the finish line at the same time!
Finally, please know that each and every dime I raise from this event will be directed toward the construction of this one-of-a-kind TherapyPlay! Module. For those that directly sponsor me for more than $250 –OR– participate in “Walk With Channing” and raise at least $250 through their own Firstgiving.com fundraising site (which I will set up for you), your name will be listed on a special plaque displayed when the TherapyPlay! Module is dedicated.
Thank you for your support and please contact me at 843-478-1634 with any questions. Please know that ALL donations are tax-deductible as the Charleston Miracle League is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit with Federal ID# 86-1086199.
