Hello there friends and family.
I have a friend who has been fighting cancer for 10 years. She's 47 years old, and she's been fighting with a no-holds-barred, no-prisoners-taken, fighter mentality that is full of positivity. To say that she is inspiring is an understatement. Her name is Maria Cook aka "MC".
Her fight has inspired me to summon a pinky-sized portion of her fighting spirit to get off the sidelines and do something to help. Something that pushes me physically, mentally, and spiritually. Something that can transform what's in my heart and my head into a tangible commitment.
When I shared my plan with MC, I asked her if there was a charity that has supported her in her journey. Without hesitation, she replied "The Joe Andruzzi Foundation". So on August 20th of this year, I will be running the Falmouth Road Race on Team JAF to support the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. This is only the third road race of my life, and it's by far the longest, but I've been training and fighting to get ready to do my part to help.
I'm hoping that you can help support me in the fight, and help me reach my fund raising goal of $3000. *NOTE: I've increased my fundraising goal to $5000. Also, please join me on Facebook as I chronical the journey of a middle-aged first-time runner who was hard pressed to run a mile earlier this year, and is committing to a 7 mile run to help a fantastic cause in honor of an amazing woman, my friend MC.
More about the Joe Andruzzi Foundation
