Jayson's Surgery

Jayson, a BROOD hound, needs your help.

Jayson was rescued from an animal shelter in West Virginia in February.  It appeared he had a broken leg, so a BROOD volunteer rushed to the shelter to pick him up and then took him to a local vet.   In addition to his broken leg, he then developed a serious case of pancreatitis.  He was on several medications, special food and medication and under the care of two veterinarians.

We soon realized that he needed specialized orthopedic surgery to address multiple problems with his leg, knee and ligaments.  Soon Jayson was transported to Maryland so that he could be treated at BROOD’s orthopedic veterinarian and fostered by BROOD’s foster and medical director.

Jayson had surgery a few weeks ago in Maryland and is now recovering from surgery to help fix his broken leg and also torn ligaments (similar to ACL surgery in humans.)  He is slowly getting better and we are hopeful that his next check-up appointment will be the all-clear for him to resume full activity and then be available for adoption.

His medical care will cost around $3,000 and we need your support to help pay his medical bills.  A donation of any amount will help.

Please also consider covering the fees that are deducted by FirstGiving. You will see this option at the time you buy your tickets. This will enable us to rescue even more hounds!

Thank you for helping save Jayson.  Please email us at brood@brood-va.org if you have any questions.
