Educate, Advocate & Donate
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
There is a serious problem in transplantation today: shortage of organ donors. While the numbers of African American donors has increased - slightly. There is still a great need for outreach and education in the African American community. Our mission is as follows (but not limited to);
encourage our people (young & old) to make better lifestyle choices to prevent the diseases that cause kidney failure and the need for transplantation (diabetes & high blood pressure)
Dispel the myths, medical distrust, and misperceptions that has been perpetuated by rumors and unvalidated information within the African American community
Increase awareness in our communnity by utilizing ethnically similar and culturally sensitive transplant recipients, candidates, donors (their families), along with health care providers, as effective messengers volunteering in the implementation and programs that will impact the community regarding their knowledge, attitudes, and decision in becoming organ donors.
I challenge you to this end: to help us reach out to our community via public speaking, information dissemination, health fairs, school programs, city council ward meetings. Giving the information that is needed to at least make an informed, educated decission about organ/tissue donation. We will come to you with our program.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! Volunteers are always welcomed and needed.
