.....and this little piggy had none
Darlynn's Darlins Inc, for a decade, has focused on the rescue, safety, and security of a great many innocent animals previously subjected to neglectful, cruel, and abandonment situations. While these animals are available for adoption into appropriate homes, the sad truth is, that in the animal business, no matter what they call themselves [SPCA, Humane Society, etc.] the average adoption rate is less than 25% across the board everywhere in the country. The other 75% of animals finding themselves in these organizations are "euthanized" regardless of the level of funding because it's not so much about the ongoing care of animals, it's about the ongoing care of the business. We're not in the animal business, we're in the business of (providing safety for) animals. We are interested in creating an emergency fund for dealing with those unexpected situations which occur when dealing with so many lives over such a long period of time so that we don't have to tap into funds for daily operating expenses. Help us build one now.
No Kill usually means they don't kill cute, young, cuddly [aka adoptable] grow up to be small dogs and cats. An older Rottie or a non descript mixed breed, for instance, probably doesn't see the end of the week in a great many facilities. It doesn't matter how much money is contributed in good faith to these organizations with the idea of helping save animals' lives. So many SPCA/Humane Society organizations are very well funded, but the kennels often sit mostly empty, and they might as well be called Animal Control instead of an SPCA or Humane Society because they are not primarily about the work of saving real lives in real time, but rather about disposing of the masses of animals that are abandoned every single day, keeping the business viable and the CEO and employees with a decent paycheck. In fact, many are funded by cities and counties specifically because they are willing to take and dispose of "unadoptable" animals. Maybe this is information you didn't know, never thought about, and don't want to think about. Sorry. I didn't want to know either. You should know there is no one associated with Darlynn's Darlins in any capacity drawing a paycheck from funds you donate. We all work at other jobs to produce our income, most of which goes right back to the care of the animals.
Darlynn's Darlins is an animal organization of a different breed. Literally. The animals here are here for life even if they don't get adopted. Dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, a goat, and a cow. There will be no needle in the heart, or bullet in the head for them simply because there is no appropriate adoptive home. Rising costs, hard economic times resulting in declining donations, and some unexpected personal health issues are creating a great hardship for our sanctuary operation. We were forced to close our doors to new residents over two years ago in order to focus on the continued security of those already here.
The price of fuel, feed, and grain, keeps climbing. We have yet to fully recover from the Mother's Day, 2008, fire [electrical] which killed eleven of the sanctuary residents outright and was responsible for the untimely deaths of two others due to stress and smoke inhalation. Our home and all of our possessions burned to the ground.
We continue to do all we can personally do to give the sanctuary residents the best possible chance for a decent life but we need YOUR help too. There are over 150 animals in residence at any given time depending on all of us to care about their lives and that they remain safe, secure, vetted, and always have enough to eat. We are a 501(c)3 organization. Your donations are tax deductible and your volunteer hours are a huge help and very much appreciated. We are a no euthanasia facility. The animals here live until they die naturally and are afforded whatever medical and personal care is appropriate and necessary in the interim to get them well, or keep them comfortable and happy in the event they do contract some kind of medical malady or become old and more feeble.
Think about the plight of these many animals, who have known abandonment, pain and suffering and who have finally found a safe place to live out their days loved and in peace. Then, help out as best you can. Every dollar helps. Every hour volunteered helps. The dollars you'd probably never miss ensures life itself for an animal friend, be it a dog, cat, rabbit, pig or something else. Please get on board to help them right NOW.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
