Swimming for Haitian earthquake relief

Hi! I'm Dayna! Welcome to my webpage!

(See my update below!)

I've been swimming competively for three years now, and in a couple of months, it'll be my 9th season on the Dolphin swim team at the Ventura YMCA.

As this is my Bat Mitzvah year, I had the chance to do a project to help the world around me. A week or so after I had started brainstorming, the haitian earthquake happened. That was it. When I heard that 2 million people were homeless and 250 thousand of them were injured, it inspired me even more.

With Americares at my side, I plan to have a Swim-a-Thon, on June 15th, 2010 at my local YMCA in Ventura, CA for your donations. When I say 'swim-a-thon', I don't mean 10 or 20 laps, my goal is to swim anywheres between 50 - 150 laps. I can swim for at least an hour straight! (not to brag).

There are 2 ways to donate. Either with a 'per lap' donation or with a 'flat' donation. Either way, your help will be appreciated. Flat donations can be made directly through this site, where as per lap donations cannot be made until after June 15th. So you can wait 'til then or contact me at the phone number or e-mail me with your pledge per lap.

But I need your donations. No, Haiti needs your donations! Without help, Haiti will perish! Organizations like Americares need the money to send food, clothing, shelter (tents and such), medicine and doctors down to Haiti. And with the rainy season coming, Haiti needs all the help they can get.

So please, find it in your soul to help the recovering country of Haiti-

Please contact me at swimmingforhaitianrelief@juno.com or call 805-794-6475 with any questions you may have.

Thank you so much....

June 15th Update

OK. I did it! I swam 176 laps (2 1/2 miles) in an hour and 45 minutes.

Please pledge what you can per lap!!

Thanks for all of your support and encouragment
