THANK YOU for visiting my fundraising page for the 2018 Falmouth Road Race. This year, I'm proud to be running to raise funds to help in the fight against ALS.
I am running for my friend, Rick Marks, from Winchester MA, who was diagnosed with ALS in October 2016. I first met Rick when our children were in Cub Scouts in second grade, and we’ve been in Scouting together ever since. Rick has always loved to run and we would occasionally talk about races, or the beauty of the running route around the lakes. Rick is also an avid hiker. Despite the diagnosis, Rick set out to hike the last 600 miles of the Appalachian Trail during the summer of 2017. I was honored to hike a section of the AT in Maine with him and see firsthand his persistence and tenacity in the face of this disease. Rick’s hike raised critical funds for ALS ONE to help defeat the disease that is affecting him so cruelly and I’d like to continue that mission for him, but I need your help.
Rick has always inspired me with his soft-spoken confidence, leadership, and passion for all things outdoors. I want to run for Rick and help ALSONE fulfill its goal to identify a breakthrough treatment or cure for ALS by 2020 and improve the care now for those battling ALS.
Please take a look at Rick’s Blog to be as inspired by him as I am: https://rickshikeforals.org/.
