Again this year the Tahoma Audubon Society is having its signature fundraising event the birdathon.  During the 24 hour period from Friday May 2 at 3 PM until Saturday May 3 at 3 PM my good birding buddy Ryan Weise and I will lead a group birders on a field trip starting in Tacoma, traveling to Ocean Shores and birding Ocean Shores and much of the way back home  before getting up early Saturday to continue birding locally the next day.  Weather and birds willing we'll find 100+ species, have fun, and introduce some participants to the joy of birding and to some beautful areas they might otherwise not see.

Of course the primary purpose is to raise funds supporting the nature education and conservation mission of TAS.  That's where you come in.  You can donate to the Tahoma Audubon here by donating any amount you choose, or more fun is to agree to donate an amount per species found.  Just leave me a message telling me how much per species you want to donate, and I'll remind you to come back to contribute after I update this with a trip report.

I'm also going to have a really big May for birding "Big Days."  I'm doing two county big days, one in Kitsap County with Ken Brown on May 9th and another in Pierce County with Bruce Labar, Shep Thorpe and Michael Charest on May 14th.  Another fun way would be to contribute per species for the sum of the three big-days.  I'll report on all three of these days here.  Wish me luck and endurance.

I'm getting started by agreeing to donate $1. per species seen on all three of these outings.  It should be somewhere above 100 species for each of the three days.

Check out the Tahoma Audubon web site for more details on the cause you're supporting.
