Welcome to my firstgiving site for AVODAH, The Jewish Service Corps!
I am riding my bicycle 3,400 miles across the continental United States to raise awareness and financial support for the program where I volunteered for this past year.
I invite YOU to be part of this project by donating one dollar (1$) for any given number of miles. I will be biking approximately 60 miles each day to total 3,400 miles on a journey from Washington to Washington! Let me know if I am stopping at a Jewish community near you!
Here is what you are donating to:
$18,000 allows AVODAH to house and place one Corps member in a non-profit, anti-poverty organization for an entire year.
$1,500 supports a one-day intensive retreat that trains Corps members on issues like conflict resolution, public speaking and anti-racism training.
$250 supports an evening program for 18 Corps member to engage in a facilitated conversation on diverse topics such as Community Organizing, History of the Social Justice movement in Judaism and an update on the shelter crisis in D.C.
$100 provides one month of Community Funds for one house so that Corps members can make a joint decision about attending a lecture, a film, or another local event around D.C.
$50 is one night of a Shabbat dinner for all Corps members.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. Or, you can send a check directly made out to AVODAH with AVODAHcycle in the subject line.

Thanks for your support and don't forget to follow my progress across the country!
Kavanah, intention, direction and purpose is the theme of this trip. Intention in every mile across the country; a mile that feeds one more mouth, a mile for each low-income child that gets to participate in an after school writing club; a mile for saving someone's SSI; a mile for a community Shabbat where we reflect on the week and the work we have been doing, gaining an understanding of how our work all relates to one anothers'.
