I am walking the Music  City Marathon on April 30th to raise money to help establish:

"Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sjögren’s Syndrome."

Sjögren’s Syndrome affects upwards of 4,000,000 Americans and is the 2nd leading autoimmune rheumatic disease in the country with 9 out of 10 being women.  In 2005 my body and my entire being was deteriorating and the physicians and the various specialists I saw were unable to provide a diagnosis for two years.

This little known, yet severely disabling, disease can cause dry eyes, dry mouth, and dysfunction of internal organs, including the kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver, pancreas, and nervous system. Patients may experience extreme fatigue, joint pain, and have a higher risk of lymphoma, I know, because I have experienced first-hand most of these symptoms.

A more detailed description of my story is available at scroll to the bottom and click on "Eric's Story."

I have committed to raise $2,620 for SSF by the date of the race. Please help me meet this goal by giving:

$262.00 to get me that much closer to the finish line

$100.00 to sponsor 1 mile of my 26.2 mile trek

$26.02 to encourage me each step of the way

Know that with each week my mileage is increasing and I feel good that what seemed impossible 4 years ago for me physically (I couldn't exercise for more than 15 minutes without ending up with flu like symptoms for the next two days) may actually become a reality.

If you’ve read my story you will understand that my desire to complete the 26.2 mile event serves three purposes: 1) To honor the Lord by being a good steward of the health/life I’ve been given; 2) To face a challenge that I’ve wanted to complete for years but never attempted; and 3) Provide funds so other people will not have to experience the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges that come with Sjögren’s .

Thanks for your prayers, encouragment, and financial support.
