Each donation brings me THAT much closer to my goal and to making our society a better place; a place where survivors and communities are healing from past violence and future generations grow up with the strength and power to end rape and sexual assault!
With love and gratitude,
I am proud to announce that I am participating in this year's Walk Against Rape! The Walk Against Rape is organized by San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR)- San Francisco's only community based rape crisis center. The event is only two weeks away and I am a long ways from reaching my fundraising goal of $2,000!
Despite the growing need for our services, the upcoming year brings budget cuts; SFWAR is facing a $52,000 loss due to the elimination of government funding. Our need for support is greater than ever!
Rape and sexual assault affects whether you are aware of it or not. In the US, about 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually assaulted under the age of 18. About 1 in 6 women and 1 in 11 men are sexually assaulted after turning 18. Rape is under reported, so these statistics are likely to be much higher. Take a moment to think about what that means about those around you- your family, friends, coworkers...what this means about our children and future generations.
This event is incredibly significant to me, my organization, and my community. Please use today to join the fight against the most intimate form of violence- rape and sexual assault.

All of SFWAR's services are free and confidential:
