I have been a runner since I was about 8 years old and ran competitively until I graduated from high school. In 2003 at the age of 18 and a freshman in college, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. From the day I was diagnosed I knew that I was going to do everything I possibly could to never allow MS to take running away from me. Over the past 5 years, I have run 2 marathons, 2 half marathons, a handful of 200 mile relays with my college friends, and am so excited to add being a teammate for MS RUN the US relay to my list!! TAKE THAT MS!
Because I was so young to be living with MS and didn't know what my future would be like, I knew it would all be in my attitude and determination to fight this monster off. By staying active and healthy, having a positive outlook, and getting involved with the local MS Society chapter, I have been able to pursue all of my hopes and dreams. Along my journey of living with MS I have learned many things, but the main lesson I have learned is to truly appreciate all of the beauty around me and to live every single day to it's absolute fullest because I have no idea what tomorrow may bring.
I am beyond excited to take my MS journey to a whole new level. Being part of the MS Run the US relay team is not only going to allow me to take my personal running, training, and nutrition goals to a level I've always dreamed of, but will also give me an opportunity to raise more money and awareness than I ever have because together we WILL find a CURE!!
I am running this relay for all of those people out there who cannot run or walk anymore due to the challenges with MS, but especially for all of my MS Rockstars who give me the motivation to keep moving every single day!!
