Take Back The Night
The Take Back The Night Foundation works to end sexual violence in all of its forms including sexual assault, sexual abuse, dating violence, and domestic violence. TBTN empowers survivors in the healing process and inspires responsibility in all. Their goal is to create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives.
What They Do
College campuses and communities around the world hold TBTN events throughout the year, primarily during the months of October, November, March and April to tie in with Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Women’s History Month and Sexual Abuse Awareness Month. Each event has its own agenda, but typically includes a candlelight vigil, a march, speak out, series of presentations, and survivor support circle. At these events, supporters wear glow-in-the-dark TBTN t-shirts and wristbands to promote awareness and end sexual violence. With the money raised, the TBTN Foundation provides educational resources and programs for students, parents and teachers. Take Back The Night Events occur in over 30 countries worldwide, with over 600 campuses and communities having held these events to date. TBTN has reached over 30 million people with their message, their support and their commitment to ending sexual violence.
