Walk for Dee 2013
Please join us on Sunday, September 29, 2013 for the 15th Annual UMass Medicine Cancer Walk. The five-mile walkathon raises funds to benefit cancer research, care, equipment, facilities and world-renowned medical professionals at the UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence in Worcester, MA. Now in its 15th year, over 60,000 walkers have participated in the event and have raised over $6 million.
The name of our team is and always will be WALK FOR DEE. However, we always walk in honor and memory of all of our loved family and friends who have battled Cancer. We walk in Dee's name because it is her that motivated us to begin walking as a team for Umass. One name has started something so big for so many people. All are loved and thought of equally.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our personal fundraising page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. We have been using this site for all seven years of our walk. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support and PLEASE don't forget to forward this to anyone you know that might be willing to donate too.
We have again decided to take this walk to raise money for cancer awareness in memory of my cousin/ friend Doreen Pepin Durling who lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer on 10/04/2004. This will be our 9th annual walk in her honor. Dee will forever be missed and through this walk her name will carry on as part of something much bigger. As we did last year we will also be walking in memory of our other family members. Ronnie Pepin and Maria Caraballo who both lost their battle with Brain Cancer. Barbara Spencer who is in remission from Lung Cancer and Robert Pepin who unfortunately just lost his short battle w/ Brain Cancer on 4/13/2009. Lillian Ward who lost her battle with Bladder Cancer in 1989. This year we will also walk in honor of my father Antonio "PACO' Bultron who is fighting the good fight against Prostate Cancer. My Uncle Moose was diagnosed and most recently lost his fight with Cancer This year I am unfortunatley adding Diane Barbieri Bousquet who was recently diagnosed w/ stage 3 Breast Cancer....FIGHT HARD DIANE. . It is all too sad that each year we must add to the list of people we walk in Honor of. Lets stop this from happening again. My cousin Shannon is also joining the team in honor of both of her parents who battled the evils of Cancer her dad Dana McKissick and her mother Gloria Douglass. Each time we add to the list it gives us even more of a reason to raise more $$$ and awareness.
As you can see Cancer has touch our family many times and continues to show its face year after year. We need your help along w/ many others to both raise funds and awareness. Your donation means more to team WALK FOR DEE than you can ever know and will benefit all of those who continue to fight their battles with Cancer. Your gift means a lot to UMASS Walk to Cure Cancer as well as myself, family and friends.
If you should have any questions feel free to contact me directly at the below email address. Also if you are interested in walking as part of our team or have any other fundraising ideas to offer we would be glad to hear from you.
This is WALK FOR DEE's 9th year walking and we would like to make this the best year yet. By donating and/ or spreading the word you can help us reach our goal.
Every dollar counts. Together we can make a difference to many families.
Thank you in advance,

I have chosen to take part in the UMass Medicine Cancer Walk to fundraise and support the ongoing research and clinical trials program at the UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence. [Share your personal story] Please sponsor me today and help all cancer patients diagnosed with and receiving treatment for cancer.
The UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence provides patient- and family-centered care in an environment of compassion and respect. Physicians are working together with scientists to bring the most advanced cancer research, clinical trials and latest treatments to every diagnosis. This translates into increased quality of care and improvement in patient outcomes. The monies I raise will be used to increase the scope and progress of this ground-breaking clinical trials program. Our philanthropic support to the Cancer Center will provide patients more effective treatments with less side effects.
Your donation makes a difference in someone’s life! Please make a donation in honor of those who have been impacted by this disease and help support the research that will prevent others from being affected.
