It’s that time of year again when I figuratively come knocking at your door to ask that you help me fundraise for the New England Organ Bank in memory of my son CJ.
I ask you EVERY YEAR because it keeps my beloved son's memory alive.
I do this EVERY YEAR because raising organ donation awareness is so important.
BUT THIS YEAR WILL BE THE LAST YEAR.
After much thought (and many tears), John and I decided that this would be the last year we officially hold our annual fundraiser.
April 14th will mark the 5 year anniversary of the day when, after a ridiculous fight I would give anything to take back, CJ put a gun to his head and ended his life.
I cannot wrap my mind around that chunk of time. It seems like yesterday and forever all at once.
Five years is so horribly concrete. And measurable. And endless.
It’s been a never ending nightmare, one I can’t escape from no matter how hard I try.
Keeping his memory alive has kept me going and given me the strength to carry on.
Fundraising each year on behalf of the New England Organ Bank has given me a way to honor my beloved son as well as help raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.
I will NEVER stop advocating on behalf of organ donation nor will I ever stop sharing CJ’s story - I will just find different ways to do so following this one last hurrah.
We’ve been so thankful to each and every one of you that that has in the past made a donation. Your contributions have allowed us to raise almost $40,000 in the past 5 years.
Last year, we raised the most we’ve ever raised in a single year ($12,590). As this will be our last official attempt at raising money on behalf of CJ, I would love to surpass that mark. The ONLY way I can possibly do that is with your help.
Every single dollar you donate is tax deductible and goes directly to the New England Organ Bank.
For every single dollar you give, you will be entered to win amazing prizes.
If you donate $25, you get 25 virtual tickets.
If you donate $50, you get 50 virtual tickets.
If you donate $1, you get 1 virtual ticket.
Basically, you get 1 virtual ticket for every dollar you donate...whatever amount you choose.
Prizes are AMAZING and you can win more than one. I will continue to add prizes to the list as they arrive. (Check back often!!!) You can tell me which prize(s) you'd like your ticket(s) to be entered to win.

Although 20 years with CJ was not long enough for any of us, we are blessed that he lives on in others through organ donation. That alone, makes his death have meaning.
People walk this earth today because of CJ and because of the amazing work stemming from the New England Organ Bank.
Upon CJ's death, we chose to donate his organs. Although it was a heart wrenching decision, it was the ONLY decision we could make. CJ believed wholeheartedly in organ donation. He was there when his grandfather (my dad) received his new heart almost 12 years ago. We know that he would have wanted us to help others even as we said goodbye to the light of our lives. Having donated my own kidney one year ago, I feel even more driven to continue to help the New England Organ Bank in any way that I can.
By making a donation on this site, you are helping the New England Organ Bank continue the good work that they do...and potentially winning a HUGE PRIZE. Your generosity truly can pay off. It's just that simple. I absolutely believe it's a win/win for all.
If you are not comfortable with donating online, you can mail me a check made out to the New England Organ Bank.
Checks can be sent to:
83 Orchard St
Auburn, ME 04210
No matter how you donate (online or snail mail) or what amount you give (even $1 helps) you will be immediately entered to win prizes. When donating, please include your email address (if you have one) so I can contact you if you're a winner. Having your email will help me notify you quickly if you win.
Tickets will be drawn at the end of the blood drive we hold each year in CJ's honor and winners will be notified by me. The blood drive will be held on April 20th. You do not need to be present to win and we will ship prizes to winners no matter where they are located.
I have cried a lot over the last 5 years as I fundraise and suspect I will continue to do so. Tears are inevitable when I constantly remember WHY I do this.
CJ is missed more with each passing day. His smile, his laughter and his hugs are things I long for with an intensity that I didn’t know existed.
I’m truly honored to fundraise one last time for such a wonderful organization.
Thank you in advance for anything you can do.
Your kindness will never be forgotten.
**Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate!
And remember....YOUR DONATION IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Once you have donated, a receipt will follow via email. This receipt can be printed for tax purposes.
Organ donation is truly the most selfless gift you can give.
Why not donate what you can't take with you?
