[4/19/11 Update] Thank you so much for all your support and words of encouragement! Due to your generosity, we met our fundraising goal!!! My dad and I are blown away by the outpouring of support and are more excited than ever to run(/walk) this race. Thanks again and though we've met our goal, please feel free to donate if you haven't already to this important cause.
Thank you for visiting!
As you may already know, my dad and I have been training for the 2011 Country Music Half-Marathon to raise money for the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation. Sjogren's is the 2nd leading autoimmune rheumatic disease in the country and affects upwards of 4 million Americans. This little known, yet severely disabling disease can cause dry eyes, dry mouth, and dysfunction of internal organs, including the kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver pancreas, and nervous system. Patients may experience extreme fatigue, joint pain, and have a higher risk of lymphoma.
I know this because my mom was diagnosed 5 years ago (many years after she first began experiencing symptoms).
My dad and I have decided to join forces with the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation by signing up to run this race so that we can help raise awareness and funds for the fight against Sjogren's and to support my mom in her courageous fight against this disease. The Foundation's mission is to educate patients and families about living with Sjogren's and to support vital research projects that will help make a difference in conquering Sjogren's syndrome.
But we need your help! Would you please consider supporting our efforts by making a donation? Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
All donations are secure and sent directly to SJOGRENS SYNDROME FOUNDATION, INC. by FirstGiving, who will email you a printable record of your donation.
Please send my page on to anyone who might like to donate!
Thanks for reading and for your support,
