I am Joseph Hunter Crain, a 21 year old Olympian, and have been running into the surf in February since high school! This is my 5th year Plunging for the Virginia Special Olympics. I am active in Area 3, the Charlottesville, Albermarle, Fluvanna, Louisa and Green Counties of central Virginia. Everything about Special Olympics is great! There are lots of sports all year long to participate in and friends to make. I especially like the bowling, basketball and golf.
Running into the freezing Atlantic Ocean can be fun too when you go with a few thousand of your friends! Last year I was in the costume contest and came in second place with our group of the " Three Plungaliers". That is a take off of the Three Musketeers, the Virginia Cavaliers, and Polar Plungers - check out the plungers on our orange Cavalier wigs!! We had a great time and raised money for a great cause. It is so exciting to see the crowd and hear music from the bands in the huge heated tent after getting totally cold and wet in the Ocean. There are games, contests, a play area for the kids and even ice carving.
It is a Beach Party in Winter!
What else is there to do at the Beach in February???
Come join me for some nice cold fun
or just donate!!!
Thank you for visiting my extreme Personal Fundraising Page for Special Olympics Virginia's Polar Plunge 2009. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
Your donation will also assist Special Olympics Virginia in reaching our total fundraising goal of $1 million dollars. That's 1 great reason for you to donate and 999,999 reasons for me to jump in the Atlantic Ocean in the height of winter!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate, too.
