2011 Country Music Marathon and Half-Marathon

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I will be joined at the Country Music Marathon with many others who support the battle against Sjogrens. Together we are raising crucial funds towards life-changing research and educational programs offered by the Sjogrens Syndrome Foundation.

Sjogens Foundation is a national non-profit organization that was founded 27 years ago to educate patients and their families about living with Sjogrens.  Today they continue their educational mission while also supporting vital research projects that will help make a difference in conquering Sjogrens syndrome.  In addition, they help to organize over 85 support groups all over the country and coordinate 3 patient education seminars a year that bring together the best physicians in the world to answer questions and inform about the latest breakthroughs and treatments available. For more information please visit their website at Sjogrens.org

I was diagnosed with Sjogren's in January 2010. I am walking/running this  marathon to support the many others who battle this disease.  Sjogrens is the 2nd leading autoimmune rheumatic disease in the country, and affects upwards of 4 million americans. This little known, yet disabling disease can cause dry eyes, dry mouth, and dysfunction of the internal organs, including the kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver, pancreas, and nervous system. Patients may experience extreme fatigue, joint pain, have a higher risk of lymphoma.

I belong to the Albany, NY support group, and have met many wonderful people who are living with many of these symptoms on a day to day basis. I want to help raise money so a cure can be found. This disease affects women 95% of the time. There are 2 girls in my area, 14 and 16 who have been diagnosed with this disease. MY HOPE  is that a cure is found so anyone with Sjogrens will not have to suffer with it's disabling affects.

I hope you will consider supporting my effort by making a donation.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
