Dear Family & Friends,
Over the next few months, I will be training for both the New York City Half Marathon and the New York City Marathon to raise money for the Organization for Autism Research. The half Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 18, 2012 and the full Marathon will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
Some of you may know that autism is estimated to occur in as many as 1 in 110 births. There are an estimated 1.7 million children and adults with autism in the United States. Autism is a lifelong challenge for the individual diagnosed and a life changing challenge for their families. While there is no known cause and a cure is not yet on the horizon, research provides hope and the promise of a better quality of life for those affected by autism.
I have committed to raise at least $6,000 this year to support autism research and would appreciate your support. Donating is simple, fast, secure and also tax deductible. All the money I raise will go toward the research underway at the Organization for Autism Research.
The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to apply research to the challenges of autism. OAR funds research that can be applied to help families, educators, caregivers, and individuals with autism find much needed answers to their immediate and urgent questions. No other autism organization has this singular focus. OAR depends upon public donations to continue its mission. I encourage you to check out their website at www.researchautism.org.
Thank you in advance for your support.
