This summer, I will be participating in a life changing adventure & I need your help! I will be participating in the JettRide across America! For almost 2 weeks, I will cycle 700 miles, from Kansas City, MO to Cincinnati, OH!!! I will ride for boys who cannot, boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne).
Over the course of 9 weeks, our team will bike through 13 states and over 40 cities/towns. The ride will take off from San Francisco, CA on June 26, 2010 and will end in Point Pleasant, NJ on August, 27, 2010. I will be joining the team as a leader/rider and ride the 3rd leg of the journey!
I will be riding for Jett McSherry, a young friend of mine who is battling Duchenne. Duchenne is the most common lethal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood today, affecting approximately 1 out of every 3,500 boys. Duchenne causes loss of muscle function and independence, there is no known treatment or cure for Duchenne.
I am participating in this event, not only because unlike boys with Duchenne, I CAN, but also because the Duchenne community needs much continued support to move ahead with urgently needed research and clinical trials.
With your help, I will ride for those who cannot. Each mile will bring us closer to finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy!
