Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Bold for the Cure (BFC) was born at the USCAP meeting in 2010 and since then has raised money for breast cancer patients and their families at multiple events including one held in tandem with last year's USCAP meeting at which we raised nearly $10,000 for breast cancer patients in the Baltimore area. The idea for BFC began when one pathologist attending the 2010 USCAP encountered a colleague – bald from the effects of chemotherapy to treat breast cancer diagnosed at age 35 – and said “You look beautiful.” She replied that she his comment would be more meaningful if he were bald too! The two sentence conversation lead to table talk amongst several pathologists dining together that night – and BFC was born.
To coincide with the 2014 annual meeting of the USCAP, Bold for the Cure is holding an event on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from noon until 2:00 p.m. in the Aqua 308 room at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel. BFC events provide a unique opportunity for pathologists and others affected by breast cancer to show their concern and support. BFC events raise money for local breast cancer charities in the cities in which they are held while also publicizing the role of pathologists – coming out from behind the microscope.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. This is a powerful and unique opportunity for members of the pathology community, their friends and family to make a statement on the value of being present for those we serve.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
