I am once again beginning my training for the Police Unity Tour. This year’s training, as with the last couple, is challenging due to the Michigan winters and the balmy (ha-ha) weather we have in January, February and March. Thanks to Redbox and my trainer set up in front of the TV I am able to get several hours of riding a week in during these months. It’s not as nice as being able to ride outdoors, but it is definitely warmer.
This year’s ride will be especially bitter sweet. Many of you are aware that I will be retiring later this year after 36 years with the Federal Government. Unfortunately (or in Sue’s eyes, fortunately) Federal Law prohibits Federal Law Enforcement Officers from continuing past their 57th birthday. I will celebrate this milestone in October so this Police Unity Tour Bicycle ride in May will be my Swan Song.
This will be my seventh and last year participating in this charity ride. Any support you feel able to provide is greatly appreciated by me and the survivors of those officers killed in the line of duty. If you would like to participate financially, here is the link that will take you to my donation page. Any donation is tax deductable. I would also appreciate your support by remembering me in your prayers as I train, travel, and ride in the Police Unity Tour.
I would like to add a personal note that over the years my ability to participate in this charity event has largely been through YOUR generosity and I cannot express in words the depth of feeling I have for all of you who have given through your donations, prayers, and thoughts. There have been times when I know that it is because of this I finish the day and am able to look forward to the next.
Thank you for all your support.
PS - Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
