Dear Family, Friends and visitors of my fundraising page,

As you may or may not know, in the summer of 2012 I will be spending 8 weeks volunteering with poverty-stricken youth in Shanti Bhavan. This is a school and home for economically and socially disadvantaged children outside Bangalore, India. Together with a team of artists we will provide them with arts education and empowerment programs on a daily basis. This, for me, will of course include Dance.

The Organisation I will be working with is the non-profit organization Artists Striving to End Poverty. This amazing organization works to create positive changes for children in need through the arts and arts education and empowerment. I will be using my dancing skills, whilst other artists will be using their acting, singing, writing or painting skills. It's a great way for the children to expand their creativity, their knowledge and build up a stronger sense of self esteem. These factors can help them break the cycle of poverty in their communities and in their own lives.

I, as a volunteer dance artist, have made a financial commitment to raise a certain amount of money to help offset the costs of this program. And I need your help to do so!! Will you partner with me in taking a step to introduce ART and the power it brings to the poorest of people!! Please donate...even if it's just 10 or 20 dollars......every little bit helps!!!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT, IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!! More than you can imagine!! And please don't forget to send this to everyone who you think might want to donate too!

Lots of Love,
Katy Geertsen
