Ride For Pride 8

Kellie Ronald's Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

On the evening of November 9th, feeling sad and depressed about the outcome of the election, I went to a gathering at the GAGV office to be with people I felt would be like minded. Was I ever wrong!

I was stunned, sad, angry, tearful, wanting to vent my frustration. So too were the many members of the LGBTQ community who also attended.  But beyond my emotions, I met and heard from people who were truly terrified, distraught, panic-stricken; In fear for their safety and the lives of their loved ones.  Once again, I came face-to-face with all the privilege and protection that comes with being a straight, cis-gender white woman in this country.

I care deeply about social equality and justice.  I have taken Speak out training classes at the Gay Alliance, I have attended the Creating Change Conference sponsored by the LGBTQ Task Force, I helped organize the Rochester Pride Festival and the Dines-Out fundraiser for several years. I have hosted Ride for Pride at my home for the last 6 years.  I thought I got it.  Clearly, I’m still working on it.

The Gay Alliance works tirelessly to serve the LGBTQ community; providing youth, family and senior programming.  They offer wonderful educational programs locally and across the nation, to help us all become inclusive and welcoming to LGBTQ individuals.

Especially now, we need this exceptional agency to continue the fight.  Please help me in my fundraising efforts!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
