Hello Family and Friends,
You all know that I'm not the marathon running type, but I am all about raising awareness for a worthy cause. So get your skis and snowboards waxed up and get to Colorado this January!
Five years ago a close family friend, Michael Lewandowski, passed away at the young age of 28 from cancer. Ever since, his family and close friends here in Colorado have run an amazing annual event raising money to support the NBTS Michael F. Lewandowski Oligo Grant. This grant, offered by the National Brain Tumor Society, is being used to help researchers identify and eliminate so called "tumor stem cells" believed to cause recurrent tumor activity.
So, now that I'm based in Boulder I'm fired up about being able to participate in the MFL Ski Day! And I encourage you to do the following:
1) Check out this website for a bit more information on MFL Ski Day:
You can also read a bit more about the MFL grant on page six of this newsletter: http://www.braintumor.org/upload/contents/312/Search_Sum08_FINAL.pdf
2) Take a plane, train, or automobile to the Winter Park Ski Resort in Colorado on January 24th, 2009 to join 150 others in honoring Michael and supporting the NBTS. Winter Park provides discounted lift tickets and a venue for the silent auction.
3) If you can't make it to Colorado, help me in raising funds for the organization. Simply click on the "Sponsor Me Now" button above or, if you're the check-writing type, simply follow the instructions at the bottom of this text. $5, $10, $20, $100....whatever you've got.
I'm not skiing for 72 hours straight or taking 1000 laps on a particular ski run, but I will be there with a great group of people trying to raise $25,000 for the NBTS. If you decide to come out you of course have a place to stay in Boulder.
Thanks for your support!
Please make your check payable to "The NBTS Michael F. Lewandowski Oligo Fund" and send it to:
