Laura's Page for Wave Week 2012!

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my Spark the Wave fundraising page! We have been online fundraising for a few years now, and I am always so appreciative that I have wonderfully supportive friends and family who visit my page and donate to our scholarship fund. Spark the Wave is a major part of my life - and has been for the last 10 years - and it is incredibly close to my heart.

The mission of Spark the Wave is to train, empower, and mentor the next generation of leaders who will impact the world through a lifelong commitment to community service. I am continually amazed by the young people I meet through our programs and their passion for community service. Spark the Wave alumni have built libraries in Ethiopia, started service and diversity clubs in their schools, collected literally tons of food, books, and clothing, and directly impacted tens of thousands of people around the world. They are in a word, amazing.

I joined our staff in 2002, and have spent one week every summer volunteering at Wave Week, our week-long summer camp dedicated to bringing young service leaders together for training, service, and an amazing week at camp. Attending camp as a delegate affected me in a major way, and is not only a huge reason for the career path I have chosen but has brought me an amazing group of people I consider a second family.

Every year, we have to turn away delegates because we cannot provide them with enough scholarship money to attend camp - and it truly breaks my heart. Staff fundraising is a major reason we can give scholarships at all, so every dollar counts! Please consider making a gift to Spark the Wave and giving a middle or high school student the opportunity to attend Wave Week!

As always, thank you so much for your consideration, and come visit us at camp!

xo,

L
